Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the now the de-facto platform for developing the next generation business services and technology platforms. While AWS provides much of the underlying capability for enabling security (i.e., ACLs, 2FA, Encryption, Multi-AZ, etc.), customers using the platform need to design, configure and monitor to ensure security.

This talk will address tools and methods of evaluating gaps and improve AWS security in an existing environment. Discussion will focus on using the AWS Console, AWS CLI and open source tools.

Speaker: Mikhael Felker

Bio: Mikhael Felker is the Director of Information Security at The Honest Company. His professional experience is a tangled web of information security, privacy, teaching, technical journalism, and non-profit leadership. During the past ten years his sector experience includes Defense, Healthcare, Non-Profit/Education and Technology companies, seeing first hand the variance in information security culture and program maturity. Mikhael received his MS in Information Security Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and BS in Computer Science from UCLA. His written work of 50+ publications has been featured in Forbes, Gizmodo, ACM, IEEE Security & Privacy, ISACA Journal, ISSA Journal, case studies, and a number of online magazines.
