OWASP Top 10 Overview

Details

Come along to our next OWASP Wellington Meetup, all about the OWASP Top 10! Arrive from 5:30pm and we'll start around 5:45pm.

Important! A mask must be worn at all times, and for that reason this event will not have pizza & drinks like we usually do. Feel free to bring your own small snack and drink bottle, or even organize a dinner afterwards with friends. We hope that this creates an environment of safety where more people feel able to attend.

Survey! Please also consider doing this short survey which will help us plan better meetups in the future: https://forms.gle/B3LXdXqYYACv7sY28

---The Talk---

The OWASP Top 10 is the flagship project for the OWASP Foundation, and the first thing people think of when you mention “OWASP”.

The OWASP Top 10 is a standard awareness document for developers and web application security. It represents a broad consensus about the most critical security risks to web applications.

In this meeting we’ll discuss each of the security risks in the top ten, and how things have changed for the 2021 version.

---Our Speaker---

Kirk Jackson works at RedShield, co-leads the OWASP New Zealand Chapter's Wellington Meetup, and has previously helped organise the annual OWASP NZ Day in Auckland.

Kirk worked as a web developer before switching to the defence team - setting up Xero's security practice, working as a pen tester, and in defence roles at several companies.

COVID-19 safety measures

Masks required
Event will be indoors
If you are unwell, please do not attend. We'll be happy to see you at a later meetup! We will attempt to set up a live streamed option and post more details here closer to the time. As previously mentioned, unless you are exempt you must wear a mask during the meetup. Vaccine passes will not be checked, though we very much encourage everyone to be vaccinated!
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
