This double bill examines lives lived on the margins, following women facing uncertainty and precarious circumstances. Nomadland and On Falling explore how people respond to economic and emotional instability, finding resilience and moments of connection amid fragile routines.
Nomadland (2020, Chloé Zhao): Following the 2008 economic collapse, Fern embraces a life on the road, finding community and survival among modern-day nomads. (Available on Disney+ and to rent on Prime Video)
On Falling (2024, Laura Carreira): Aurora is a Portuguese worker in a Scottish warehouse, who deals with loneliness and alienation in an algorithm-driven gig economy as she looks for meaning and connection within workplace confines.
