Session details:
1. Multi-Platform and Multi-Cloud, the Hybrid Future of Data Management - Grant Fritchey
More organizations are moving to the cloud. At the same time, we're seeing the adoption of multiple data management platforms. How is a data professional supposed to deal with the demands of a multi-platform, multi-cloud, hybrid environment? That's what this session is all about. We'll talk about the trends that are happening in the world today. We'll discuss how they impact you and your career. Finally, we'll go over the tools and best practices you need to embrace in order to get through your day in this new, challenging, environment.
2. Welcome to the Party: Microsoft Fabric for DBAs - Rob Carrol
For too long, DBAs have felt like they've been left out of the party, watching from the sidelines as others enjoyed the innovations and excitement of Microsoft Fabric. But the tables have turned! With the introduction of Fabric Databases, DBAs are now a part of the main event.
Join me in this session to discover how Microsoft Fabric unifies your transactional and analytical workloads on a single, powerful data platform. We'll explore the seamless integration of the SQL Server database engine we all know and love with the flexibility of replicated delta tables in OneLake. You'll learn how to utilize your existing DBA skills to monitor and maintain Fabric Databases and see how they compare to other features, like Fabric Mirroring in SQL PaaS, to give you all the information you need to make informed choices.

Rob Carrol
I've been working with SQL Server for over 20 years, firstly as a DBA and now as a consultant. I joined Coeo as a Data Platform Consultant in 2021 providing advice and guidance to customers modernising their SQL Server estates. I previously worked for Microsoft as a Premier Field Engineer (PFE) and as an independent database consultant, working across various sectors including financial services, retail and defence. When I'm not working with SQL Server, I'm a keen runner and enjoy spending time with my family.
