Dr Douglas Campbell
Title: We use Microsoft in this Council, how does R fit in? Some experiences with officeR in local government
Description: This presentation illustrates the use of the officeR package to automate the creation of a Word document using charts and tables generated by R. The live example, which has been used by Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council, demonstrates how R can produce such a document with nearly 100 charts, a table of contents, and some explanatory tables, OfficeR can be used instead of of rMarkdown to build Word, html, or PowerPoint documents.

Title: Demonstrating that you’ve taken account of a consultation. Using RQDA to analyse texts and emails
Description: This presentation demonstrates the use of the RQDA package to provide multiple codes and classifications for whole sentences and paragraphs of textual data that can then be exported, analysed, and reported through R into Word. The live example shows how the package was able to assist in breaking down complex statements to allow politicians to draw maximum insight before making a decision. It offers an alternative to tidytext for qualitative analysis.

Oxford RUG is thrilled to be sponsored by Mango Solutions. Thanks to their generosity, there will be pizza from Franco Manca and wine after the meeting. When RSVPing, please answer the question whether you will be staying for pizza (so we get a sense how much pizza to order).
