Rev J. Gomes: Feminism was women's great enemy - until transgenderism came along
Details
Sadly, this event has been cancelled by Mr Ian Brooke, who is head of Community Services at Oxford City Council. Mr Ian Brooke claims that our event threatens the council's value of 'Valuing Diversity'.
We received notification from Mr Ian Brooke to the effect that our event had been cancelled without any prior communication from council. Note that we would have been happy to provide the full text of Rev J. Gomes' speech, but the council cancelled our event without taking the trouble to ask us any questions about it.
We categorically deny that our public lecture would have threatened any of the council's values, least of all its core value of the 'Valuing Diversity'.
If you are frustrated that Rev J. Gomes' public lecture has been banned by Oxford City Council, please consider writing a letter of complaint to Mr Ian Brooke. Mr Ian Brooke's e-mail address is here: IBROOKE@oxford.gov.uk
The following text relates to the cancelled public lecture by Rev Dr Jules Gomes...
For the health of the British body politic, the Oxford Men's Group is delighted to host the Rev’d Dr Jules Gomes (BA, BD, MTh, PhD) for the following public lecture: 'Feminism was women's great enemy - until transgenderism came along'.
Rev Jules Gomes is a journalist and academic. He wrote the weekly ‘Rebel Priest’ column for The Conservative Woman and is now a columnist for Republic Standard. Jules earned his doctorate from the University of Cambridge and taught at the United Theological College, London School of Theology, and Liverpool Hope University. He enjoys philosophy, literature, art, classical and jazz music, target shooting, and motorcycling. He lives with his wife and cat on the Isle of Man.
All are welcome to attend this public lecture, which is free - no prior booking is necessary.
The lecture will be immediately followed by Q&A. Then, as always, we shall retire to a nearby public house in order to continue the conversation with addition of a little liquid refreshment.
