Redis with the Pi Pico W Workshop
Details
Interested in IOT, how device connectivity can be leveraged using cloud data and how to use MicroPython?
In this hands-on workshop, Simon Prickett will introduce you to the Raspberry Pi Pico W Microcontroller using MicroPython, connecting a Pimoroni GFX LCD display and guide you on how you can use Redis as a data store in the cloud.
What you will need
You’ll need to bring a laptop with a good battery or with your power adapter, a spare USB A port and preferably Thonny IDE and GIT pre-installed.
Your workshop host
Simon Prickett is the Principal Developer Advocate at Redis. He began his career writing C++ for Hewlett-Packard Labs. He has subsequently held senior roles with companies ranging from startups to enterprises including Capital One, USA Today, and New Zealand’s Customs Service.
Simon has created software for mobile and embedded devices since the late 1990s, from early browser-based cellphone portals to today’s IoT and cloud architectures. The need for high performance, efficiency, and personalization that makes these systems successful led him to discover Redis.
Away from professional life, Simon enjoys travelling and building devices with microcontrollers. Simon holds a Computing Science degree from Aston University.
We would like to thank the amazing team at GitHub Oxford for kindly hosting the event at their offices in Oxford.
Also, our thanks go to our sponsor Corriculo who is providing refreshments and nibbles…
If you would like to join us for an evening of MicroPython, IOT and cloud data followed by an optional visit to a local watering hole for natters after you would be warmly welcome.
