August Meetup: Behind the Scenes of Preproduction in Animation
Details
This month, we'll step into an adjacent medium while supporting one of our own! David Condolora, one of the organizers of Ozark Game Developers who is both game developer and Pixar and Disney veteran, is creating an animated feature film and will give us all a peek behind the curtain of what preproduction looks like.
Have you ever wondered how your favorite animated films go from initial idea to the big screen?
David will take you behind the scenes of the development of his own prospective animated feature, The Fox in the Walled Garden. David will screen a portion of the film as an animatic, a storyboard-based blueprint for the animation process that contains all of the action and emotion of the final movie.
Along with the screening, David will give a brief talk about his background in the animation industry, and there will be a moderated Q&A with some of the cast and crew of the film. All of the work that went into the animatic, including script pages, concept art, and storyboards, will be on display in an adjacent gallery, which goes into more detail on every step of the animation development process.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the gallery available for view, and the event is from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the adjacent auditorium. The gallery will remain available for viewing after the screening.
