What we’re about
Craving fresh air and epic adventures? You’re in the right place.
From hidden city gems to wild mountain trails, day hikes to camping trips, paddleboarding to snow trips – if it’s outdoors and awesome, we’re up for it! 🌿
👉 To walk every Wednesday evening around the city or the North shore, please join our new Evening Walks Club by OZ Outdoors
We're a vibrant, respectful community that thrives on shared adventures and personal responsibility. Before joining us outdoors, please take a moment to read our simple guidelines below:
🛡️ Safety & Responsibility
- Know your limits: Choose events that match your fitness and experience level. Read event details carefully and come prepared. Reach out if you’re unsure.
- Bring the essentials: Each event lists what to bring – gear, water, snacks, etc. You're responsible for your own wellbeing and safety.
- Stay safe: While we take care in organising, outdoor activities carry risk. The organiser/host isn’t liable for injuries, so please act responsibly and let us know if you have medical concerns.
✅ RSVPs, Attendance & Timing
- Only RSVP “Yes” if you’re committed to coming. If your plans change, update your RSVP promptly—even if you're on the waitlist.
- Be punctual. Arrive at least 10 minutes early, especially if the location is unfamiliar. Please don’t expect the host to take calls or give directions while managing the event.
- Stick with the group. If you wander off, you're on your own.
- Guests are welcome, but you're responsible for ensuring they follow all group rules.
- Children under 18 may attend easy-rated events only with host permission and must be supervised at all times.
- Pets are not allowed unless clearly approved beforehand (usually only on some urban trails).
🌏 Group Culture & Conduct
- Respect and kindness come first. We’re here to enjoy nature and connect. Disrespect, abuse, or disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the group.
- The organisers’ decisions are final. This includes events, waitlists, and group membership.
- Use comments responsibly. Keep them relevant and avoid clutter (e.g., no “can’t come” or weather updates). Organisers aren’t obligated to reply to every message but will help where needed.
- Respect privacy. Don’t post identifiable photos of others without consent. If you prefer not to be in group photos, let the organiser know in advance.
💚 Contributions & Support
This is a free community run by volunteers. For most hikes, a small gratuity (typically $5) is appreciated and helps cover expenses like Meetup fees, First Aid certification, and event planning.
Note: This is separate from Meetup+, which is an optional $10/month feature that gives perks like priority access but doesn’t go to organisers or cover event fees.
