The Queen's View and the Allean Forest, Pitlochry: C+ grade 7 mile circular

Is this Highland Perthshire's most iconic view? Join us on this pleasant walk through a fine example of "Perthshire's Big Tree Country" forests and sample the Queen's View on the way. The forest features a diverse mix of conifers and is home to red squirrels, roe deer, and pine martens.

Heritage is written into the landscape at Allean. Before the conifers were planted, this was home to generations of farmers. We will visit the Clachan, a partially restored 18th-century homestead, and travel back another thousand years at the remains of an ancient Pictish ring fort overlooking Loch Tummel. Further back still is the four-poster stone circle, Na Clachan Aoraidh (the stones of worship), atop the hill Meall nan Clachan.

We'll start walking at 10:00 hrs prompt. Please let us know if you're held up or unable to join us by messaging the event organiser via this Meetup website so that we can proceed with our walk without delay.

Car sharing is a friendly option that gets people out who might not be able to do so otherwise 😄. We will stop at a convenient point on the way for lunch. Refreshments are available at the Queen's View visitor centre, located near the end of the walk.

Hillwalking can pose a risk of personal injury, and all participants should be aware of and accept these risks, as well as be responsible for their own actions, involvement, and enjoyment. No participant is owed any formal duty of care by the group or by the walk leader.

Please make sure you have the appropriate level of fitness required for a Grade C+ walk.

Participants are also responsible for ensuring that their walking gear is suitable for the nature of the walk and the prevailing weather conditions (which they are responsible for checking), as well as for bringing adequate food and water supplies.
