Meall nam Fuaran hill, Auchnafree: Grade B, 10mile circular hill walk

Rescheduled by popular demand. The walk starts at the entrance to Croftmill and climbs steadily for approximately 5km with an ascent of 500 metres, eventually reaching the summit of Meall nam Fuaran. From there, the rough, stony track descends very steeply towards the Glenshervie Burn and Glen Shervie, where it eventually joins the Rob Roy Way near Auchnafree. From there, a very narrow heather-lined track high above the Glenlochan Burn leads through Glen Lochan, passing various lochs on the way, including Lochan a Mhuilinn, before dropping down to rejoin the outgoing track above Croftmill.

You certainly have a feeling of remoteness in this area, and it wouldn’t be unusual not to meet anyone en route.
Please endeavour to arrange car-sharing with other walkers, as parking is limited at Croftmill. It is also easy to meet at the CP at Amulree Hall and car-share from there to Croftmill.

We will be stopping for snacks, so bring lots of water and something tasty. Dogs are welcome, provided they can be kept on leads when requested or when conditions require it.
