We will thread our way through various forest paths and trails towards Loch Glow Reservoir (which is also a fishing loch), then onwards and upwards to ascend Dumglow to the cairn 379m which was once the site of a fort. Returning down the same route to The Inneans, we then bear north to the site of a fort at Dummiefarline, then pass north of Lurg Loch to meet up with forest access roads returning through Loutenstane Wood, Blairadam Forest and back to the car park for 3pm.
The total ascent will be around 340m
While not overly demanding technically, please ensure that you have the fitness to maintain walking at a moderate pace for 10 miles over some rough ground. We will stop for a short break around midway point so bring sufficient personal refreshments for the duration and conditions.
The route contains a varied mixture of walking terrain including muddy singletrack trails, some may be boggy and rough in places, forest access gravel roads, and a couple of short sections of quiet tarmac road.
Well controlled dogs are welcome on this route.
Note that there has been significant logging operations within Blairadam Forest area recently and some areas have restricted or no access, so our route is determined by those factors.
