Bluidy Tam, The Muscovite De'il!
This "new for 26" walk includes ‘the ship that never sailed’, Outlander's Lallybroch, Viking graves and the Dalyell baronets' family seat!

Distance - Approx 8 miles
Ascent - 750ft/ 250m
Paths - Mixture of Tarmac/Hardcore/farm tracks/Grassland.
Our journey starts promptly at 10 am in the House of Binns car park, Home to the Dalzell family for over 400 years and where, in more recent history, the Parliamentary "West Lothian Question" came to life! ( House is closed for winter) From here, we walk in a northerly direction on the road towards Blackness, where we will have a short stop to admire the castle exterior and grounds. Following the John Muir way, the wooded coastal path east along the bank of the River Forth to Abercorn, where the Viking graves can be viewed in Abercorn church annex. We head south west up the Cornie burn past Midhope Castle (Lallybroch, for any Outlanders fans) and eventually through farm and woodland back to the House of Binns, where we will view the folly Binns tower, General Tam's smokehouse and with "good weather" fantastic views over the River Forth to Fife and the Ochil hills beyond🤞🤩🤩

Please arrive in time to leave at 10 am. We will stop at a convenient point, so bring a cuppa and a snack with you. There is a trailer selling snacks, scones, tea, and coffee at Midhope if you need more!

Mannerstons Cafe and Farmshop is just a short drive away. Let me know if you plan to join in for a wee treat and a cuppa afterwards!
