Lily Kayaking Trip - Easy

You are not going to want to miss this beautiful kayaking adventure hosted by one of our own adventurers, Pickles! This beautiful section right now is filling up with gorgeous lilies and we are going to see them.

We will be paddling the Catawba From the Landsford Canal upper launch to the lower launch. We will drop the kayaks at the upper launch, drive to the lower launch, and hike back up to the kayaks. At least one person will stay with everything. The hike is very easy with no incline and a mile and a half.

The paddle will start by going upstream to go around an island and will be about 2 miles. The river is very rocky and there are some class 1 rapids. Some fundamental knowledge and skill of kayaking is recommended, but by no means need to be an expert to get through class 1 rapids. The river can be unpredictable, and wearing your PFD is highly recommended. There will be a few kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and dry bags that can be lent, and there’s will be 1 seat available with Pickles on a tandem.

We will be renting a shelter and will be cooking hotdogs after the paddle. We are encouraging people to bring a side, but absolutely no obligation. If you need to borrow anything, or if you would like to learn some basic skills one weekend morning please text Pickles at (704)-605-5910.

Trail: Landsford Canal State Park - Upper Launch
Difficult: Easy to Moderate
Distance: 2miles with paddling, 1.5 mile hike back out that is labeled as easy no incline
Entry Fee: There is a $6 charge to enter the park. You can do cash in an envelope with no change or pay electronically with their QR code.

Pickles has asked that you bring the following:
Water shoes or sandals with a back strap
Water bag
Paddle PFD (life jacket)
Water
Snack
Dry bag
Kayak
A bbq style side if you are going to stay for the BBQ.

I also understand that organizers are not required, nor should it be assumed that they are CPR/First Aid/Wilderness Survival Certified and I am responsible for my own personal safety.
