McAfee Knob via the AT - Moderate

McAfee Knob - the most photographic spot on the Appalachian Trail! You do NOT want to miss this hike. This is a slow and steady climb up to one of the most gorgeous views on the AT. At 3,171 feet you will be clothed in the beauty of the AT.

MERB will be guiding this hike. McAfee holds a really special place in my heart - it is 15/10 on the romance scale; it is where I saw my first bear - there are so many beautiful memories here! Please take time to come on up and try to carpool as the parking lot fills fast. There are shuttle options available by visiting McAfee Shuttle.

This hike is an easy 3 hour drive from uptown Charlotte!

Rating Comparison: This hike is compared to Hanging Rock; but not as long in length. Coming down McAfee is a nice mellow down hill.
