A free hiking permit is required to hike this trail. We will need to stop at the kiosk at the trailhead and fill out the safety registration permit beforewe begin our hike.
This is one of the Parkway's most rewarding hikes, as it climbs up to Calloway Peak. In winter, it’s recommended to park at the Asutsi Trail and hike connecting trails to reach Daniel Boone.
If you have not done any hiking in the Grandfather district know that the trails here are NO JOKE. The weather is wild as well - so you will need layers as well as rain protection. Shoes that are solid are a must!
