Step into one of the most breathtaking stretches of the Appalachian Trail as we wander through the beauty of Cherokee National Forest. Beginning at Carver’s Gap, this northbound journey leads us through dreamy forest paths, sweeping mountain views, and the kind of overlooks that make you stop, breathe deep, and remember why you came. This trail is stunning, but it does ask something of you — the elevation gain can be a challenge, and the summits are often kissed with strong wind. Come ready for a little push, a lot of beauty, and that wild, grounded feeling only the mountains can give.

You must have your own backpacking gear for this trip. While leaders always carry first aid and emergency supplies, your personal gear and essentials are your responsibility.

This is a great trip for first-time backpackers! If you have the gear but haven’t backpacked before, a gear check with Food Lion is required prior to the trip. This helps ensure you’re set up for a safe and successful experience. We provide these checks at our hiker hangs.

We won’t dictate exactly what you should or shouldn’t bring — every backpacker’s needs are different — but we will provide guidance, insight, and support to help you feel confident heading out.

First day:
We will hike 9.4 miles down to Bradley Gap to camp between the two humps. Depending on weather this might be changed to the overmountain shelter area - we will post the final decision a week prior.

Second Day:
We will hike up and over Hump mountain ending at 19E. We will hit up the local hostel called the Station for food after!

This backpacking trip is led by Merb and supported by Food Lion.
