World Oceans Day Cleanup in Rainbow Harbor, Long Beach

Details

Join the fun as we celebrate World Oceans Day on Sunday, June 8, by cleaning up in Rainbow Harbor, Long Beach. We'll launch from South Shore Launch Ramp, paddle across the mouth of the LA River and Queensway Bay and into Rainbow Harbor, cleaning up trash along the way, then paddle back.
Meet at 8:00 AM for a group photo and intros, then a group launch at 8:30ish (or if you have an inflatable or otherwise need extra time before launch, please plan your arrival accordingly so we can launch and paddle together). We launch early to return by 11:00 AM before inevitable winds kick up. We’ll have additional information to share regarding logistics with those who sign up at least 24 hours in advance.
Bring your own kayak or SUP. Best to wear sunscreen (ideally reef safe), hat, sunglasses, and reusable gloves. Wear or have on board a life vest/preserver. Bring a reusable water bottle and your choice of tools for picking up stuff--a net, grabbers, tongs--and for toting it--bucket, laundry basket, bag. Whatever you have on board, though, be sure to tie it down. We don't want to add to what's littering the water.
As with all Meetup activities, you accept responsibility and with kayaking/paddling, including picking up trash from the water, acknowledge potential dangers and fully assume all risks associated with participation.
Let’s protect our ocean and the critters in it!
