Paddle Tuckahoe State Park (25 minutes past the Bay Bridge)

Details

Tuckahoe State Park is a quiet oasis on the Eastern shore. We'll meet at the Tuckahoe State Park Boat Ramp on Crouse Mill Rd, paddle across the small lake and up the stream (pictured above). The total distance is nearly 4 miles and has a mild current to paddle against. You're almost guaranteed to see lots of turtles, birds and maybe even a muskrat or otter.

This is event is suitable for paddleboards, recreational/touring kayaks, whitewater kayaks and canoes, but not inflatable kayaks. Everyone must WEAR, not just bring a USCG-approved life jacket or PFD.

The new launch has a roller ramp to keep you dry, but you may wind up portaging a little in the stream, so water shoes with a sturdy sole are helpful. The paddle across the small lake is unprotected, but the stream is surrounded by woods and protected from the wind.

There's a bathroom at the Lake Pavilion parking lot, across the lake from the boat launch.

The actual address of the boat ramp is 710 Crouse Mill Road, Queen Anne, MD, but Meetup doesn't recognize that.
