RENTALS AVAILABLE! Paddle Scenic Mattawoman Creek (5 miles)

RENTALS are available from Atlantic Kayak, but you should reserve with them to ensure availability.

Single kayak rentals are $49 for 3 hours. We will get back to shore by 1:15.

Mattawoman Creek is a delightful little tidal estuary off the Potomac in Charles County. We'll head about 2.5 miles upstream against a very gentle ebb tide. It should start picking up speed as we turn around and get us back to our start in 2/3 the time. If folks want a little more distance we can go past our put in a ways. Wind and powerboats should hopefully not be a problem here.

10:30 am is on-the-water time so please arrive with sufficient time to get your gear unloaded, as we do not wait for latecomers. You may have to park in the trailer parking lot or on a local street if it is a busy day.

This is event is suitable for paddleboards (including iSUPs), recreational/touring kayaks, and canoes, but not inflatable kayaks. As always, everyone must WEAR, not just bring a USCG-approved life jacket or PFD.
