Paddle to Hart-Miller Island picnic - a bouncy and breezy 3.5 miles

Details
Hart Miller Island is just over a mile from the mainland in Baltimore County and a delightful beach to spend the afternoon at. While we're on the island, we can enjoy a picnic (we will have a grill), take in views from the observation tower, go for a swim, and maybe even get robbed by a gang of adorable raccoons! The end time is a suggestion, so some folks may stay later, but we won't hold anyone hostage or send them back all alone (we will make sure everyone departs in a group if we split up).
While the total distance is only 1.7 miles each way, there is a continuous 1-mile open water crossing where we may experience breezy conditions and have to contend with frequent motorboat traffic and their wakes. I might have room to bring a faster boat if someone feels theirs is not up to the task.
This event is ideal for touring kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, and fast paddleboards. People using recreational kayaks and surf-style SUPs (including iSUPs), are welcome but will likely need to paddle harder than the average outing, considering the wind. As always, inflatable kayaks and rafts are not allowed. Everyone must WEAR, not just bring a USCG-approved life jacket or PFD.
