Paddle among naval history at Curtis Creek & (optional) lunch at Ramshead

Details
We're all finally back from our Adriatic adventure in Croatia and eager to paddle our home turf!
We will launch from the beach at Solley Cove Park and head north, past the Coast Guard station and see the World War I wooden ships and the World War II concrete freighter. We will turn around from there and head back towards the put-in, for a total distance of about 4 miles.
OPTIONAL (but recommended): We will be very close to Ram's Head Dockside if anyone wants to grab lunch. They have a beach that we can paddle up to and outdoor picnic table seating. This part adds an extra mile. We will paddle past the launch ramp on our way, so anyone can peel off and skip lunch.
This is event is suitable for paddleboards (hard or inflatable), recreational/touring kayaks, and canoes, but not inflatable kayaks or rafts. Everyone must WEAR, not just bring a USCG-approved life jacket or PFD.
The last half-mile of Carbide Road is unpaved. Keep following the signs for the American Legion or paintball park. Keep right at the American Legion and drive past the old put-in. The parking lot is straight ahead, past the paintball park. Pull straight through the jughandle/left turn to get to the unloading area and PLEASE don't block the boat ramp.
