Paddle to hear the Beach Boys at Pier Six
Details
Who is picking up some good vibrations?
Who is giving you the excitations?
You will be! If you come join us to watch the best pop band to have ever existed? That's right - we're going to watch the Beach Boys from the Inner Harbor! Well, we'll watch Mike Love and a bunch of other dudes play their songs. But that's still half of the living original members.
Unless the new ramp next to the Rusty Scupper has an on-time opening, we will launch from the Locust Point water taxi dock on Hull Street promptly at 7:00. We will paddle as a group the one mile northwest to the slip between piers 5 and 6. We may not stay for the entire show, because, ya know, you're in a kayak or on a paddle board.
Now for the numerous caveats:
- This is a dumb, potentially dangerous idea. Kayaks are small and there will surely be at least a few drunk powerboaters on the water by the time we leave.
- You aren't allowed to touch Pier 6. That means no holding on to stay put. Security will shoe you away.
- You absolutely need a white light of at least 90 lumens on your boat at all times. Coast Guard might check.
- You absolutely need to be wearing your PFD the entire time.
The Locust Point launch is not a legit launch. You can either:
- Leisurely take your time launch from the rocky breakwater
- Throw your boat off the dock and climb in from a 3' tall ladder
- Wait for the water taxi to leave and then quickly run down the ramp with your boat and launch off the side before the next water taxi arrives in six minutes.
So, after reading all of that... who's in???
