Fabulous First Timers @ Juno Park off Ellison Wilson Road

Details
SUP Newbies Unite!!! Ready to try stand up paddle boarding but haven't had the opportunity yet? We'll supply the equipment. You just need to show up with your sense of adventure, have some fun and get a nice workout at the same time!
Who should come? Any one who wants to learn how the basic strokes needed for stand up paddle board in a safe, flat water environment. This may seem obvious but I have to say it; you need to know how to swim. The lesson will last under a half hour with the remainder of the time for practicing your new skills and end up paddling through Frenchmen's Cove Natural Area.
What will be provided? You must RSVP for this event so we know how many boards to bring. The cost of the rental and instruction for Paddleboard Palm Beach County members and their guests is $40 for 2 to 2.5 hours (if folks want to paddle longer it's no problem). Our sponsor, Paddleboard Connection, will provide top quality stand up paddle boards, paddles and safety equipment such as leashes and life vests as required by the U.S. Coast Guard. The class will be taught by an ACA (American Canoe Association has been around since 1880) certified SUP instructor and a certified Florida Master Naturalist.
What should you bring? Other than your sense of fun and adventure, you need to wear clothes that you can get wet in. Most folks don't fall into the water but this is a watersport so it's OK to get wet. It's advisable to bring sun screen, bug spray, inexpensive sunglasses, a hat that you can get wet and will stay on your head easily, water in a reusable container if possible and maybe a snack if you think you might need it. :)
When: Arrive by the start time listed above so we can get your equipment fitted and be ready to start the lesson shortly thereafter.
Where: Carefully read 'How to find us' above. If you have a question about getting to this location, please ask me.
Wondering what to do if the weather is questionable? I check multiple detailed weather and radar forecasts. I don't cancel until the day of the event because quite often the forecast will change overnight. I will cancel the event if I know the wind will not cooperate based on the location or if there's a thunderstorm heading our way at the time of the event. The whole idea is to have fun so I'm not going out there unless I think we'll all have a nice morning on the water. Just come on out and have fun on a beautiful South Florida morning.
About RSVPs: Please remember to update your RSVP if you can't make it. Please RSVP if you have your own equipment just so I know how many paddlers to expect.
