Women's Paddleboard Workout
Join us every Thursday evening for a paddleboard workout THAT WILL INCLUDE SKILL BUILDING AND SPEED (depending on the day). What does that mean? Some days we will be working on skills that will make us stronger and faster paddlers. On other days, we will be working on speed. We will be paddling the same course generally but everyone is paddling faster at their own pace. You are completing against yourself; not other paddlers.
Details:

  • Time: 6:45 pm (sunset at end of paddle) Bring a Headlamp if you can. It's quiet and more peaceful out on the water with almost zero boat traffic. Plus paddlers gotta work too so starting at 4:30pm is not an option. Weekends are not an option at this point either.
  • Location: Burt Reynolds Park. Park nearest the paddleboard rental rack.
  • Distance: Anywhere from 2 miles to 4.5 miles in 1 or 2 laps. One lap is totally fine if that’s your pace! This is about challenging yourself not pushing to the point of injury, pain or frustration. We vary the courses around the islands. If we are skill building than the distance will be less than speed days.
  • What this is all about....Paddling Stronger...Paddling Faster: This is a workout paddle. The idea is to go fast at whatever that is for you. You are racing against yourself. Kind of like running when you are training to be faster...you should be paddling at a steady fast pace where it's challenging to have a conversation. We are adding skill building including stroke clinics, interval training, buoy training (pivoting around a buoy) but for now; we're just building up our endurance.
  • Who should sign up? Women who want a workout, get your heart rate up and even race train if that's your goal. Thinking of doing Crossing for the Cure? Training for the Chattajack? For either one of these races, you should start training now. If you are unsure whether this event is for you, text me at 561.260.2628. If you are new to paddleboarding or want to improve your skills before coming out to paddle with us; then RVSP for our Fabulous First Timers meetup with our sister meetup group, Paddleboard Palm Beach County, You will learn the form that you need to paddle with us on Thursdays.

Important Reminders:

  • Bring a headlamp or board light if you can – Coast Guard regulations require a light after sunset but we will be finishing right around the time it starts to get dark.
  • Bring bugspray in case the wind is calm while you are putting away your board.
  • RSVP if you’re attending so we know who’s coming.

Paddling in the evening is peaceful and there are very few boats. It’s a great way to end the day with a good workout. We've been doing this since last fall. Let's keep this party going. By the way, once a month or so we may go out and have a refreshing adult beverage afterwards. Got Qs? Text Vivian at 561.260.2628.
