Quinebaug River from Fayban CT to W. Thompson Dam

Requirements:

• PFD, 10-foot length of rope, whistle.
• You must have your PFD on and fully fastened to participate in this event.
• Be prepared to give your emergency contact number to the host if he or she asks for it.
• Event start time is in your boat, in the water, and ready to paddle!

This trip requires a car shuttle. We will meet at launch point at 9:00 and shuttle cars to the finish at the West Thompson Dam boat ramp as needed. This trip should take about 2.5 hours. Please bring a warm change of clothes in a waterproof container and make sure you have 10’ of safety rope tied to the front of your boat.
Launch Point: River Mile 22.0. A GPS address of 568 Fabyan Road, Thompson CT, will get you close. From CT Route 131, the launch is .6 mile south on Fabyan Woodstock Road, on the left just before the bridge. Watch for the brown sign: Fabyan Dam Canoe Launch.

Finish: River Mile 27.8. The boat ramp on West Thompson Lake in North Grosvenor Dale. It is at the end of West Thompson Lake Recreation Road, which is off of Reardon Road. A GPS of 341 Reardon Road, North Grosvenor Dale CT, will get you close to the turnoff.

This paddle will involve some fast water sections with minimal rapids. Some paddling experience on rivers is recommended for this trip

** The water is still quite cool so please wear appropriate clothing!
