- Event start time is in your boat, in the water, and ready to paddle!
The address for your GPS is 1183 Plainfield Pike, Sterling, CT. The launch is off the parking lot at the municipal building/library/school on Route 14A in Oneco, CT. Do NOT drive down to the water - park in the parking lot and carry your kayak down to launch area as it is somewhat washed out.
It’s just upstream from the dam. This is a leisurely flatwater paddle. There are some downed trees that we will be able to paddle around. Several member will be bringing saws and clippers just in case more have fallen.
The Moosup River flows approximately 23.7 miles from Clark Pond in Foster, Rhode Island, south through Foster and Coventry, then turns west and heads into Connecticut, flowing through Sterling and Plainfield to its mouth at the Quinebaug River.
Required equipment: PFD, 10-foot length of rope, whistle, headlamp/flashlight (for evening paddles). And be prepared to give your emergency contact number to the host if he or she asks for it.
Please be considerate: be on time (in the water and ready to depart!) and cancel if you aren't able to come.
** The water is still quite cool so please wear appropriate clothing!
