Selden Creek/Whalebone Creek

Details
- You must have your PFD on and fully fastened to participate in this event.
- Event start time is in your boat, in the water, and ready to paddle!
The launch is on the east bank of the Connecticut River at the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry landing. The address of 159 Ferry Rd, Old Lyme, Connecticut, your GPS will get you close. Make sure the ferry is operating if you are planning to use it.
This trip is not for novice paddlers because of large boat wakes on the Connecticut River on Saturdays. You may get wet, so pack a dry set of clothes. Also bring a snack if you wish.
We will paddle south on the Connecticut River for about three-quarters of a mile to Selden Pond and Creek. There are several small tributary creeks to explore on the way out and back. We will return up Selden Creek, as large boat wakes, wind and tidal current make a return on the CT River difficult. A visit into Whalebone Creek is possible on the way out or return.
Approximate time on the water is about 3 hours.
Required equipment: PFD, 10-foot length of rope, whistle, headlamp/flashlight (for evening paddles). And be prepared to give your emergency contact number to the host if he or she asks for it.
Please be considerate: be on time (in the water and ready to depart!) and cancel if you aren't able to come.
