Let’s gather and celebrate on the eve of Imbolc, an ancient Celtic and Gaelic holy-day, and invoke the protection of Brigid, the Celtic goddess of inspiration, as we honor the sacred land that surrounds us as it begins to stir from winter’s slumber. Also known as St Brigid’s Day, Imbolc marks the beginning of spring and was traditionally celebrated at the start of February, halfway between the winter solstice and spring equinox.

On this magical evening, we’ll experience the origins of this festival through ritual, song, dance/embodiment, merriment, and good food. Held safely within a community container, we’ll deeply connect to one another and nature in an uplifting and celebratory way. This event will be potluck so that everyone can leave well-fed and nourished. All humans welcome, ages 12+.

Itinerary:
6:00-6:20pm Arrive & settle in
6:20-7:00pm Opening circle & ritual
7:00-8:00pm Brigid embodiment movement, and/or dance
8:00-9:00pm Connect, snack, & merry making
(for those that are not inclined to dance, you’ll have the option to practice embodiment though gentle movement, breath, and presence as you bear witness to those dancing about the room)

What to Wear: Adorn yourself in clothing and accessories that help you to embody the feeling of spring awakening or Brighid herself. Colors associated with her are green, white, red, blue, gold or yellow. The studio is a shoe-free space so you may want socks or slippers to keep your feet warm.

What to Bring:
1. A potluck dish or snack to share (water, tea, and decaf coffee provided)
2. A back jack or floor cushion (if you need more than a folded blanket to be comfortably seated on the floor; blankets will be provided and chairs are available to those that need them)
3. An offering to Brigid that will be placed on our community altar (all personal items will be returned to the owner unless its a biodegradable offering that can safely be released into the river)

When: Saturday 1/31 from 6-9pm
