The Last Picture Show: Director Peter Bogdanovich, Author Larry McMurtry

For our June Page to Screen selection we find ourselves in 1950's small town Texas for The Last Picture Show (1966) by Larry McMurtry and its screen adaptation of the same name from (1971) starring a very young Jeff Bridges, Cybil Shepard and Cloris Leachman in Peter Bogdanovic's directorial debut. Somehow this is our first of his films and a great one to start with. It garnered 8 Oscar nominations, 2 of which were wins...not a bad way to start a career.
