Draw and Paint in Water Media and Pencil

Learn to paint and draw in a variety of water media and pencils!

Create sketches and paintings in a variety of water media. We will use gouache, watercolor, pastels, pencils on paper, yupo etc.

Meetups will give you the means to create art on your own, or collaborate with others in a proactive, learning environment.

First session is introductory and there is no charge. I will demo a still life painting in gouache as well as watercolor sketching. Please bring pencils and sketchpad if you wish.

I can show you how to sketch in a painting, color mixing and brush techniques. Gouache allows you to paint in a more layered style, such as in oils, but you are thinning paints with water not turpentine. You can also use gouache practically like watercolor and could start a painting that way then use thicker paint in layers.

Birds, cats, dogs, still life, landscapes, seascapes, city scapes, high fashion are some subjects I have worked in. My interest is in depicting positive subject matter. The work of children's book illustrators such as Beatrix Potter, Tasha Tudor and John Tenniel is breathtaking. Please note this is a G/PG-rated class. I found it boring drawing from life at school and preferred to draw clothing and fashion on people. So, if anyone's interested I would offer a fashion sketch class as well.
