In the 1800s, Tenth Avenue was known as Death Avenue thanks to the at-grade freight railway. In the 1900s, Robert Moses took that railway off of the street and elevated it through the middle of the block instead (being a force of demolition even when saving lives). In the 2000s, the abandoned railway was transmogrified into the High Line.

Our meeting point will be at 11am in the little sidewalk park at the northwest corner of W17th and 10th Ave. Check in with me on-site so I know who's attending, and then we'll disperse to our individual painting spots. At 2pm, we'll meet back up to show off our art and discuss the day.

Gather your materials (watercolor, oils, gouache, acrylics, marker: all are welcome) and join with other artists for the joys and challenges of painting outside!
