What we’re about
At Painting With Friends we are all about making new connections, trying your hand at new creative activities in a pressure-free, relaxed and friendly. All sessions are run by me, Katie. I'm a professional illustrator and art educator who's been living in Madrid for 10 years.
I'm passionate about building our creative community and allowing everyone to share in the joy of doing art, no matter the level, all we ask for is an open mind and the willingness to give it a try. At Sketch&Social we meet and draw at cultural and artistic spaces around Madrid, every week is a new location! Our painting workshops are based in Retiro and our art studio in barrio Salamanca district. Materials are always included.
So join us to make new friends, unleash your inner artist and experience the joy of making art in great company. I can't wait to meet you at our next event!

Hey! we're your hosts, 2 professional illustrators: Katie & Claire and we'd love to personally invite you to The Sketch Retreat.
Join a beginner-friendly art retreat near Madrid. A weekend of sketching, creativity & community in the mountains. No experience needed. A creative weekend retreat in Navacerrada. Relax, sketch & connect in a welcoming space for everyone.
Discover a playful art & sketch retreat in the Madrid countryside. A chance to reset, relax & create with a friendly community. All materials will be included, breakfasts and some shared meals.
We'll be staying in a beautiful chalet next to a pine forrest with a view over the valley where we can sit and see beautiful sunsets and a wonderful garden that we can use to spark our creativity.
What we'll do:
- A social 'Sketch&Social' in the nearby village, Navacerrada.
- Several illustration sessions- lead by us
- Sunset sketching/painting session
- Creative games session
- Free time for art making of your choice
We only have 3 spots remaining and would invite those who feel this weekend is for them and would like to invest in their own art with like minded people.

What's happening?
A relaxed, fun and open drawing session open to everyone. Materials are included- so just bring yourself and a willingness to learn and create alongside other creative enthusiasts. Don't worry if you've never sketched before, this is an open and judgment-free event for relaxing and connecting as well as participating in drawing prompts/activities and games.
What should I bring?
Nothing! If you're interested in being creative and meeting other like-minded and open people then this is the event for you. We'll be on the rooftop bar (Broken Shaker) at the Generator with stunning views of the historical centre of Madrid. We'll watch the sunset, have a drink and make some creative magic together.
