ABOUT US
The Palm Beach Pack & Paddle Club, founded in 1975, plans numerous events each month for exploring and appreciating nature and conservation.
Trips last a few hours, a day, a weekend, a week or longer. They are local, within Florida and long-distance. Our major activities include camping, kayaking and canoeing, backpacking and hiking, bicycling and snorkeling.
We also hold picnics at parks and beaches, visit interesting area attractions, take part in pot luck dinners, ice cream socials and trivia events, hold a weeklong Thanksgiving Festival full of events in November and host a holiday party in December.
Most of our events are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. But some expert instructional sessions and special events and most long-distance camping trips are for paid members only.
Come join the fun!
CONSERVATION
Members have dedicated countless hours to conservation efforts since 1975 and participate in many conservation projects and fund-raising activities throughout the year, including participation in the Great American Cleanup and other cleanup events throughout Palm Beach County.
Funds raised from events and donations benefit the club’s Conservation Fund. Each year funds are disbursed to community conservation and environmental organizations.
CLUB MEETINGS
Club meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month from September through May each season at the Okeeheelee Nature Center, located in Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach.
Meetings feature guest speakers on nature-related subjects and other topics of interest, a raffle, and information on upcoming events.
All are welcome!

Flamingo Park Walk/stops at Resource Depot, Jack/Bikeman, and Bednar's Mkt
Resource Depot, 2508 Florida Avenue, west Palm beach, FL, USShared event with RFAR (Recess For Active Retirees) and P&P. Meet 10 AM on the street near Resource Depot 2510 Florida Ave WPB. Near Dixie and Belvedere. Walk about 2 hours around the historical Flamingo Park neighborhood.Carolyn R. who lives in the area will be the guest leader and point out some historically significant homes. Please refrain from talking while she is explaining about the area so others can hear. Questions are welcome. ( Thank you) . Before the area was platted in 1921 for construction of single-family homes, today’s Flamingo Park was a pineapple plantation and mango orchard. Between and around the homes today, hundred-year-old mango trees tower over our streets, sidewalks and houses.
Botanical artifacts abound, such as the magnificent kapok tree at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Biscayne Drive and the monstrous banyan trees of Ardmore Road. While gardening in the 21st century is nothing like the 1920s, many homeowners plant native and xeriscaped yards to conserve water and help surrounding nature survive our hurricane seasons well into the future. The second legacy arose from the 1920s Florida land boom, when Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Mission homes filled out what was a “suburban” strip of land perched on the Atlantic coastal ridge south of downtown West Palm Beach. Meet 10 AM on the street near Resource Depot 2510 Florida Ave WPB. Near Dixie and Belvedere. Walk about 2 hours around the historical Flamingo Park neighborhood. and Resource Depot Creative Reuse | Resource Depot | United States to learn/see how some items are kept out of landfills and repurposed. Amanda will give us a short overview of the program.
. New Bednar's Market has prepared sandwiches/wraps and salads and an outdoor area with tables if you want to do lunch as only a few blocks from where we park. This is an exploratory event and may have some changes if/as new information arises. Hope you can make it. Ben 561 425-3077 bbsdob525@aol.com37 attendees
