John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is an amazing park which consists of 438 acres of varied habitats and almost 2 miles of beaches. Be sure to check out the web site link below to learn more about the park and to join Friends of John D. MacArthur State Park, if you wish, for free kayak rentals, depending on availability, free entry, and other benefits. Near the gift shop, there is a nature center with displays and and education center with videos on the park and its species.
If you own your own Kayak or Paddleboard we will launch at the canoe launch by 9:30 (please arrive early enough to launch on time) so we can meet up with the other participants at the rental launch by 9:45am. If you are renting a kayak, meet at the gift shop at 9:15 am to fill out forms, etc. We will paddle to Munyon Island. Optional Hiking on Munyon Island. Please remember to bring water and snacks.
You'll pay $5 or $6 to enter the park. Be sure to drive to the southernmost parking lot as it is closest to where we will meet and launch.
You can rent a kayak here also (and, if you want to join Friends of MacArthur for $75, you will get free rentals and park entry for a year.) Call 561-776-7449 x 101 to reserve. Cost is $38 for a half day.
