The Quagmire of Date and Time: Casey Orr (AWS)
Details
Casey says: "We take dates and time for granted but it isn’t until we start peeking under the curtains to find its horrors. Many are spared this fate but as developers, our fate is different, we’re sent into the mines with nothing more than a tattered piece of paper scribbled with “ISO 8601”, “UTC”, and other text pleading for sanity. Join us to learn some interesting titbits on date/time concepts, how date/time impacts our world and processes (distributed computing especially), and basics steps that can help us maintain our sanity as coders building the tools bound by it."
Casey will answer questions like "How long is a day?" and other stuff you thought you knew the answer to.
Thanks to Objective for hosting and sponsoring pizza. Please RSVP so we know how much pizza to buy. We usually walk to Aquaba or Brew Union around 6:30-7pm for the social half of the meeting.
Every 4th Thursday of the month
