UPLA runs free neighborhood academic programs every Saturday morning at the First Unitarian Church.

  • 📍 Location: First Unitarian Church (2936 W. 8th St., Los Angeles, CA 90005). The classroom entrance is to the left of the main church doors. Free volunteer parking is located at the southeast corner of 8th St. and Westmoreland Ave.

  • ⏰ Schedule: Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

  • ✏️ Program Focus: The "Without Limits" program offers free math and reading tutoring tailored for local elementary school students. Students complete interactive math worksheets and spend 15–20 minutes reading aloud.

  • 🤝 For Volunteers: If it is your first time volunteering, you should arrive at 9:30 AM to check in with the director. No prior experience is needed, and progress notes are tracked at the end of each session.

Note: UPLA also hosts a massive neighborhood grocery distribution program at the same location right before tutoring from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM if you want to double up your volunteer morning.
