What we’re about
This group brings together parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals who support neurodivergent children on Vancouver Island. We meet in a calm, inclusive space to learn how to co‑regulate—building emotional safety and connection through practical, science‑informed techniques.
What we do
We host 90‑minute, hands‑on sessions in Nanaimo (at venues like Beban Park Social Centre) that explore:
The nervous system basics of stress and safety
How to spot each child’s unique early signs of overwhelm
Simple phrases, body language, and sensory tools to calm and connect
Stories and reflection exercises that help us understand our own triggers and repair quickly
Each workshop is designed to be gentle and judgement‑free. You’ll leave with personalized strategies and a deeper sense of confidence, whether you’re a parent, education assistant, therapist, or family member.
Our values
We are neurodiversity‑affirming and trauma‑informed. We believe dysregulation is not bad behaviour but a call for safety. Our focus is on connection, empathy, and small, realistic changes that make a big difference. Sharing is always optional, and everyone’s experience is respected.
Who should join
If you care for or work with a child who experiences big emotions—whether due to autism, ADHD, anxiety, or other differences—this group is for you. We welcome people from all backgrounds and stages of the journey. Members will receive workshop announcements, resources, and occasional discounts (including pay‑what‑you‑can options).
The group is facilitated by May Sosa, a psychiatric nurse and parent of a neurodivergent child, and supported by Stories Without Labels. We look forward to building connection and calm together.
