Let's Talk Tech: Fungi, AI & LLMs

Details

Let’s talk tech on June 19th in our Paris office! Join us as we hear from Marine Sobas, Engineering Lead at Dataiku, on the similarities between the spread of a fungus and the functioning of neural networks used in artificial intelligence. We are also joined by Harizo Rajaona, Developer Relations Expert at Mistral AI, who will explore how to optimize Mistral models and other LLMs. Join Dataiku for an opportunity to meet with fellow data enthusiasts to learn, discuss new trends in tech, and enjoy a drink.

Agenda:
6:30 - 7:15 pm: Marine Sobas, Engineering Lead at Dataiku | What Can Fungi Teach Us About AI?

Fungi possess amazing properties. We use them in the form of antibiotics, yeasts, or hallucinogenic substances. However, their ability to solve complex algorithmic problems is less known. Thus, mushrooms can spread optimally in a network or solve problems such as finding the shortest path. More interestingly, the spread of fungus follows a mechanism similar to the functioning of neural networks used in artificial intelligence.

7:15 - 8 pm: Harizo Rajaona, Developer Relations Expert at Mistral AI | Optimizing Mistral Models: A Deep Dive into Fine-Tuning Techniques

Integrating large language models (LLMs) into specialized business applications or utilizing them with data beyond their original training scope can present significant challenges. Although in-context learning and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) methods can provide some assistance, they are not without their limitations and bottlenecks.

In this technical talk, we will explore the concept of fine-tuning, an efficient and adaptable alternative that can significantly enhance the performance of your LLMs. We will delve into the mechanics of fine-tuning, discuss its advantages, and provide a step-by-step guide on how to apply it to your favorite Mistral models.

8 - 10 pm: Meet & Greet with drinks
