About us
If you run something for other people in Paris — a walk, a workshop, a supper club, a studio afternoon, a gig — this is the group for you. Paid, ticketed, or completely free, it all counts.
Most people who run these things are doing it on their own. You learn what works by getting it wrong in front of eight people on a Tuesday, and afterwards there is nobody to ask. This group exists so there is somebody to ask.
What we do: we meet online most months, and in person in Paris when enough of us can get to the same room. Someone who has been at it a while takes us through one thing they have learned — planning a two-hour walk, what to do when three people turn up instead of ten, how to price something honestly, and when to charge nothing at all. Then we ask each other questions and swap the things that never make it into a guide. We also run practice sessions where you can try yours on a friendly group before you take it out into the world.
Who should join: anyone in and around Paris who already hosts, and anyone who has been circling the idea without starting. Both are useful in the room, for different reasons. You do not need a business, a finished idea, or anything to show. We meet in Belleville, the Canal Saint-Martin and the 11th, and members come from Lille, Lyon and the wider north of France too.
Dues and fees: there are no membership dues and nothing to pay to join or attend. If a session ever carries a venue or food cost we say so on the event page before you RSVP.
Who runs it: Detor (godetor.com), a small Amsterdam company that helps hosts fill what they run. You do not need to use Detor to be part of this group and nothing here is a sales pitch — plenty of members host independently or on other platforms. If you do want somewhere to list your thing, ask and we will talk you through it.
