I invite you for a dynamic hike through the iconic Forêt de Fontainebleau, a world-renowned landscape of ancient forests, unique sandstone boulders, and hidden sandy paths. We’ll navigate a 14 km route featuring light scrambling and forests, ending in the historic village of Barbizon, the 19th-century home of the Pre-Impressionist masters.
After the hike, we’ll settle in at a local favorite spot for coffee and cake before heading back to Paris. I will let the owner know we are coming, but in case we can’t find where to stay inside, we take the coffee to go.

Train R: Gare de Lyon 10:16 - 10:58 Fontainebleau - Avon (direction of Montargis)
!!! Try to catch this train, otherwise you will arrive too late.
🎯Ending Point
Barbizon, at around 15:00 o’clock. We will have 1 hour for coffee and explore the tiny village before taking the bus to the train station.

📏Hike Details
- Distance: ~14 km
- Elevation gain: +200 m
- Duration: ~5h (including stops and coffee break)
- Difficulty: Easy towards Moderate. The trail is mostly flat but includes "dynamic" sections with light scrambling over rocks.
- Lunch: We’ll stop for lunch in the forest, so please bring your own food and water. And at the end of the hike, we stop for coffee and cake.
- Language: English – ideal for expats and anglophones living in or visiting Paris.
You are responsible for your own actions — please ensure you feel comfortable with the distance, and you act responsibly.
