Get out and explore the Petite Ceinture!

Details

No lockdown this weekend.- let's get out and explore!!

Spring is coming so it's time to get walking and see the changing colours of Paris and at Secret Paris Tours that means exploring another part of the hidden green belt and ancient railway line right here on the left bank for a change! Built in 1852, the Petite Ceinture ran until 1934 connected all of Paris's main railway stations in a huge loop around the city. Replaced by the Metro it runs above and below the city, weaving its way thru tunnels and over bridges and remains almost totally untouched, overgrown and mysterious. Despite many plans and discussion on what to do with this national historical infrastructure it remains a fascinating place to explore and a secret 'green space' for those Parisians in the know! In the last few years, small sections have been opened up to the public and turned into walking paths and public spaces. We will explore one such new section in the 15th arrondisment and then continue on thru the impressive Parc George Brassins, and into the closed sections.

See viaducts above the street, cuttings below ground, street art and renovated stations, plus (maybe) even a hidden entrance to the CATACOMBS inside one of the tunnels!

IMPORTANT: Bring walking shoes and a bottle of water, torch or light on your phone for the tunnels. Cost: 15 Euro per person - LIMITED PLACES so secure your spot in advance (www.PayPal.me/secretparistours)

Meet: Balard (end of metro line 8) outside the brasserie 'le terminus balard'

Finish: Métro Port d'Orléans (Line 4)
