A WALK IN THE FOREST

Details
After we replenish ourselves with tucker and beverages at The Magicians Cafe and grab some more for lunch to enjoy along the way its time to begin our remarkable escapade and experience some highs and lows set amongst some truly spectacular scenery.
We start our journey with a descent of Furber Steps (996 altogether) amid rainforest areas on bush tracks, crossing quaint little wooden bridges, admiring grottos and taking a break at the numerous lookouts. (did I mention steep descent) before we give our wobbly legs some relief at the Federal Pass.
We have a lengthy but fairly easy stretch along the Federal Pass to Leura Forest with the Three Sisters towering overhead and the dreaded Giant Stairway looming above. (not for me, keep moving).
Time for lunch at Leura Forest under the Gazebo, formerly a popular Tea House, while we consider a hefty ascent up the cliff face. Marguerite Cascades, Linda Falls, Lila Falls and Fern Bower, as the name suggests is a pleasant spot to chill out amidst a fern covered gully next to a creek. The beautiful waterfalls that we have access to on our climb out makes it all worthwhile.
Plenty of stairs and metal ladders to contemplate while we climb out of the valley allowing at least an hour or more as we wait for the stragglers to stagger out, or up. Nearly at journeys end and Katoomba RSL to recouperate over a well deserved drink.
This is a classic hike of about 12 kilometres and should take 4 hours hopefully, maybe by the time we get going. A big descent to the Federal Pass with an even bigger ascent mostly on metal staircases. You can count them on the way up if you like.
What to bring.? Besides money, you should know by now, if not ring 0451483009 and see if I know.
Regardless of the huge descents and climb out we won't be leaving anyone behind, we'll suffer together.
