Because of the condition of the Zigzag Walking Track I've had to compromise with an alternative finish to the event.

We'll head off when we're ready to begin an adventure to the original Lithgow Dam. (Dam No 1) And what an adventure it is, with many creek crossings, running streams and giant rock formations littered with caves towering overhead
Then we reach the historic dam with tracks to explore on both sides and a few surprising relics scattered throughout. When we've had enough exploring its time to begin our second adventure.

We're bound for Lithgow with some interesting features to explore along the way. Firstly we encounter Lake Pillans Wetlands, a beautiful place to relax, take some photos and stroll around.

A blast from the past is our next destination. With the historic remains, Lithgow Blast Furnace is worthwhile checking out before a short walk into town for lunch and a beer(or two). See the sights of Lithgow before our journey home.

All up about 10 kilometres and 4 hours, maybe more by the time we explore and finish at Lithgow. Fairly easy and laid back event, suitable for people who would like some sociable time together.

What makes this a fantastic day out is that most people have not ventured into these places so come along for a Magical Mystery Tour that you can tell your friends about and even bring them back.

If you're catching the train you have to travel in the last carriage next to the guard and ask them to stop at Zig Zag. Very short platform and rarely used by commuters.

Here is my number 0451483009. Call me if you've got nothing else to do.

I've included photos to give you a preview of what you'll miss if you don't turn up.
