Parrot Parents is moving to Facebook

Thank-you for your interest in Parrot Parents of Brevard. I had big plans for this group when I started it....and I still do. As you know, parenting a parrot is rewarding but also extremely challenging; something that non-parrot owners fail to understand. Meet-up is a great site for groups that have lots of events. While I do hope to have events for this group in the future, I think a more immediate need is a way for members to connect with other parrot owners.

Therefore I am going to move the group to facebook.

The facebook group will allow members to communicate everyday rather than just at planned events. Members of the group do not need to "friend" the other group members in order to share photos posts and messages.

This group will be a great place for members to share photos of their birds, post tips & comments, share links to relevant sites or just chit chat with other "Crazy Bird Parents". This will be a SOCIAL group, not a sales, marketing or promotional group.

Membership in the group will be open to all local parrot owners as well as anyone else who loves talking, squaking, messy, playful lumps of feathers and personality:) Please feel free to invite anyone from your friends list to the group who you think may be interested.

For the first couple of weeks the group status will be "open". This means that anyone can join and that posts are public. This "open" status will make it easier for interested parties to find us. I will monitor the group and remove anyone who I feel does not belong or who has a sales/spam agenda.

After a few weeks I will change the status to "closed". Once the group is in "closed" status all group content will be restricted to "members only". Members will still be able to add people from their friends list to the group at that time. All other prospective members will need to be approved for membership.

I already added several of the Meetup members to the group who happened to be on my personal friends list. If you were not added to the group but wish to join, you can find the group with this link or just search for "Parrot Parents of Brevard" on facebook. I will be closing the meetup group in a week or so.
