PeeWee's Play Day - A Parrot Friendly Event

I'm so excited to announce the first date for what I hope will be come a quarterly event....

PeeWee's Play Day, a fun Meet & Greet for Parrots and the Parents who love them. So bring your Fiddies as well as any friends or family. This will be fun party day for all the parrots who'll be able to chatter away with new friends. This event is open to everyone who has an interest in parrots, whether they own one or not. I encourage anyone who is considering becoming a Parrot Parent to attend and get to know some of the adoptable birds. I also encourage "non-bird" people to attend as well. We welcome people who have no intention of ever adopting a parrot, but who would just like to learn more about these beautiful creatures and spend a fun day doing just that. I'm in the process of planning some "Parrot Parenting" classes such as bird handling, nutrition & health, estate planning, trick training, etc... I am hoping to get one of two of the professionals in those areas to stop by this event and say hello. We'll have some fun games set up as well as photo opportunities and LOTS of helpful information for your Fiddies! I will also be giving away some fun door prizes to some lucky winners! Of course the best part of the day is that you'll get to meet & mingle with other "Crazy Bird People".

The first Play Day will be held at M..A.R.S. in Melbourne Beach. If possible I'd like to hold future events at other area Parrot rescues or animal welfare organizations. It is called PeeWee's Play Day in honor of my beloved Sennie PeeWee who passed away unexpectedly at age 6 last month. I adopted him from M.A.R.S. last year and the 13 months I spent with him were priceless. He had a sad and rough life prior to arriving at M.A.R.S., but at least I know his last months he was happy and loved. He always loved a good party so this is in memory of him and all the other little birds out there like him. This event will be free to attend but I would like to ask visitors to either leave a small donation to the rescue or bring something from the rescues's wish list. (I'll post the list closer to the event). Please feel free to bring an appetizer or snack to share with the group. I'll provide cups, plates, napkins & silverware. We'll have water, sodas & other beverages available at a nominal cost. If you need something a bit stronger...feel free to BYOB.

The event will be held "Open House" style so feel free to come and go throughout the day. M.A.R.S. (the Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary) is located on Ocean Ave about halfway between the river and A1A. Just head west at the light where A1A makes it's 90 degree turn. Look for an avocado green home on the north side of the street with a wooden sign that says Parrots (or Apple Spas...it's the same house). Parking is available at the church parking lot next door.
