What we’re about

About Local Garden Swap

The Pasadena - Altadena Local Garden Swap is a community initiative rooted in the heart of our local neighborhoods. We aim to foster a rich, supportive network of gardeners, from novices with their first pot plants to seasoned veterans boasting bountiful backyards.

We believe in the power of sharing — not just the fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, and plants we nurture with care but also the invaluable knowledge and experiences we gather along our gardening journeys.

Our Vision

In an era where digital connections often overshadow physical ones and where the convenience of supermarket aisles makes us strangers to the very soil we live on, the Pasadena—Altadena Local Garden Swap seeks to reconnect us.

Our vision is a community where local food production is celebrated, knowledge about sustainable living is freely exchanged, and every gardener feels valued and connected regardless of skill level.

What We Do

Produce Exchange: Garden swaps are at the heart of our community. These events provide a platform for members to exchange homegrown produce, eggs, honey, seeds, and plants, reducing waste and encouraging diverse, seasonal eating.

Community Building: Through our newsletter and regular meet-ups, we create opportunities for members to connect, share stories, and build friendships grounded in a shared passion for gardening.

Our Story

The Pasadena—Altadena Local Garden Swap sprouted from a simple idea shared over garden fences: everyone has something to grow and give.
