National Trails Day- Waterfalls! Rose River/ Dark Hollow Falls Loop

Details
Come enjoy National Trails Day by joining us on a hike! Hike leaders from the PATC's Southern Shenandoah Valley Chapter and Charlottesville Chapter will guide you on this adventure.
Hear the sounds of cascading water as you hike among the oak, basswood and yellow birch trees. We will see the most popular waterfall in the park, and one that is much less visited, as well as pass the remains of an old copper mine.
The Rose River/ Dark Hollow Loop will highlight two of the best waterfalls in the Shenandoah National Park. Our loop hike of about 5 miles will have moderate elevation gain for the Park of about 1400 feet. Where there are great waterfalls, there will be constant climbing, so only those who can handle long climbs should attend this hike.
Please bring layers of clothing to keep you comfortable for the weather; raingear is always suggested. Please bring 2 liters of water and snacks to keep you fueled. There are some water crossings on this hike, so hiking poles are recommended.
We will hike from the Byrd Visitor Center at Big Meadows. Hike leaders Jim Fye and Iva Gillet.
