Forest Therapy Walk

Details

Join us for a Forest Therapy Walk where we take the time to slow down and engage our senses in the forest, fostering a deeper connection with ourselves, nature and each other.

By immersing ourselves in the tranquility of the outdoors, we can mindfully experience both our inner world and the beauty surrounding us in truly meaningful ways.

This meditative stroll will take place amidst the stunning scenery of Seven Bends State Park, providing the perfect backdrop to appreciate the environment and the many gifts that nature has to offer.

The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy has evolved Forest Therapy from the concept of Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku), which originated from Japanese research in the 1980s. This research revealed that spending time in forests served as a preventative measure against serious health issues arising from an increasingly technology-driven economy.

The ANFT has since enriched the experience of Forest Therapy by enhancing the inter-relational connection with nature.
In our practice, participants will be led through a series of invitations designed to cultivate mindful awareness and focus on their movements and interactions within the natural environment. They will also gain insight into their coexistence and connection with everything they encounter.

Invitations are not tasks or activities that you must complete; there is no correct or incorrect approach. Forest Therapy is a gentle, relational practice that connects you with yourself, others, and the More Than Human World. In this context, the Forest serves as the therapist, while the guide helps to open the doors to this experience.
