Details
Rock Creek 6 Mile Southern Loop
This is a 6-mile loop trail in Rock Creek Park. It departs from the Rock Creek Park Nature Center, and travels south past Pierce Mill, crossing the creek and returning to the Nature Center on the other side of the creek. The hike is generally considered a moderate route. It takes an average of 3 hours hike to complete. The hike offers a glimpse into wilder regions of Rock Creek. Even a coyote or two have been seen over the years. This is a popular trail for birding and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day, especially on weekdays. The trails are open year-round and beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. The Nature Center is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so the only toilets available are found about 2 miles into the hike.
